What you get with a Rashmi coat
An overcoat only works if the shoulder sits clean, the sleeve clears the jacket cuff, and the length covers the suit when you walk. Rashmi is a bespoke family tailor since 1987. Every client gets their own pattern, drafted from their measurements in our Hong Kong workroom and kept on file — so the next coat matches the first.

We make winter coats and lightweight jackets — not raincoats, sweaters, scarves, hats or other accessories. Every coat is bespoke: cut from your pattern, not adjusted from a stock block.
• Winter coats / overcoats — cut to wear over a suit or sport coat, with length, chest and sleeve set for how you actually dress
• Topcoats — the cleaner, often slightly lighter formal coat clients choose for city and evening wear over a jacket
• Lightweight jackets — for warmer weather and travel, when you still want a considered outer layer without a heavy winter cloth
• Fit notes on file — shoulder, chest over a jacket, sleeve, waist and hem length, so reorders stay consistent
• Details at the fitting — single or double breasted, vents, pockets, buttons and lining — ask Vijay what suits how you wear the coat

How a coat fitting works with Vijay
Vijay does every Rashmi fitting in the US himself. Allow time in the same appointment as a suit fitting, or book a coat on its own.
He takes your measurements, notes posture and how you move, and talks through length (over a suit jacket), how warm you need the cloth, single or double breasted, and whether you want a winter overcoat or a lighter topcoat / lightweight jacket. Tell him whether the coat is for commuting, travel, evenings or weddings — that conversation shapes the cut as much as the tape.
Your pattern is drafted in Hong Kong and kept on file. Delivery timing depends on the order and is confirmed at the fitting. Shipping to the US is free.

Fabrics for coats
Choose from about 2,000 fabrics overall. For winter coats and topcoats we work with heavier wools and warm cloths suited to cold cities; for lightweight jackets we use lighter weights for milder weather and travel.
Premium fabrics are priced separately; Vijay will confirm the price of any cloth you are considering at the fitting. Availability changes, so what you see in person is what we can cut now.
When to wear an overcoat, topcoat or lightweight jacket
• Winter / cold cities: a proper mens overcoat or winter coat over a suit — see also Bespoke Suits for the jacket underneath.

Do you make winter coats and overcoats? Yes. We make winter coats — overcoats and topcoats — and lightweight jackets, each cut from your own pattern. We do not make raincoats, sweaters, scarves, hats or other accessories.
Is a Rashmi coat really bespoke? Yes. Every client gets an individual pattern, cut from their own measurements and kept on file. We do not adjust a stock block. That is why we call our custom overcoats bespoke.
Who does the US fitting? Vijay does every Rashmi fitting in the US himself, one to one — at Trunk Shows across the country.
What is the difference between an overcoat and a topcoat? Clients and shops use both words for a formal coat worn over a suit. In practice we talk through length, cloth weight and how warm you need it — then cut a winter overcoat or a lighter topcoat / lightweight jacket to match.
