The groom suit

Your groom suit should feel like you on your best day. Vijay takes your measurements, notes your posture and how you move, and a pattern is drafted for you alone. The suit is half-canvassed, so the chest sits cleanly in photographs and through a long day of standing, hugging and dancing.

Choose from about 2,000 fabrics, including cloth from Zegna, Loro Piana and Dormeuil. Many grooms choose something they will wear again — a navy, a grey, a soft check — and plan the details (lapel, buttons, lining, a waistcoat) to make it theirs for the day.

Groomsmen suits

Groomsmen suits look best coordinated, not identical. We often keep one cloth family or colour and vary the details — a waistcoat for the best man, a different tie or pocket square, a slightly different shade for the fathers — so the party looks considered and each man is fitted to his own pattern.

Ordering timeline: book early. Tell Vijay the wedding date at the first contact, and we'll plan fittings and production so everyone is dressed in time. Delivery timing depends on the order and is confirmed at the fitting. Groomsmen in other cities can be fitted at a nearby trunk show; once a pattern is on file, they can reorder remotely.

Fathers of the bride and groom are welcome too — often in a cloth that complements the groom rather than matches him.

Tuxedos for the wedding

For a black tie wedding or evening reception, a custom tuxedo is cut from your pattern like any other suit. Choose black or midnight blue — midnight blue reads richly under evening light — with satin or grosgrain facings. Velvet dinner jackets are a good choice for winter weddings or for the groom who wants to stand apart from the party. Ask about a lighter dinner jacket for warm evenings.

What to wear by season and venue

Summer and outdoor weddings: tropical wools, linen blends and lighter colours; half-lined jackets breathe better.

Winter and evening weddings: mid-weight worsteds, flannels, velvet dinner jackets, and a winter coat if you'll be outside for photos.

City and formal venues: navy, charcoal or a tuxedo.

Beach and garden weddings: lighter cloth and softer colours; a sport coat and trousers can work for a relaxed dress code.

Vijay will match weight and colour to the season and venue you describe at the fitting.

Wedding shirts

A wedding shirt is cut to your own pattern as well, with the collar that suits your face and your tie or bow tie. For black tie, ask about a dress shirt with French cuffs for studs and cufflinks. Groomsmen shirts can be coordinated in the same way as the suits.

How it works across US cities

Vijay travels across the US for private 1:1 fittings — see Trunk Shows for current dates. The groom and groomsmen don't need to be in the same city: each can book where he lives, for example in Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington DC or Boston. Orders are made in Hong Kong and shipped free to the US.

FAQ

How early should I order my wedding suit?

As early as you can. Tell Vijay your wedding date when you first get in touch, and we'll plan so the groom and groomsmen are ready in time. Delivery timing is confirmed at the fitting.

Do groomsmen suits have to match?

No. We usually coordinate — one cloth family, varied details — so the party looks considered without looking identical.

Can groomsmen in different cities be fitted?

Yes. Each can book a fitting at a nearby trunk show, or reorder remotely if his pattern is already on file.

Should I choose a suit or a tuxedo for my wedding?

Follow the dress code: a tuxedo for black tie or formal evenings, a suit for day and most other weddings. Vijay can help you decide.

Do you make velvet dinner jackets and midnight blue tuxedos?

Yes, along with black tuxedos and lighter dinner jackets for warm evenings.

Who does the fitting?

Vijay does every Rashmi fitting in the US himself, one to one. Allow 30–60 minutes.

Is it really bespoke?

Yes. Every client gets an individual pattern, cut from their own measurements and kept on file for later orders.
